Youka Desktop and the Youka Extension share the same Library page as Youka Online. A karaoke can be marked Available online, Available offline, or Available online and offline. Offline access applies to finished karaoke video exports. Projects, source media, stems, and editor settings remain online-only.

Before you go offline

  1. Open Youka Desktop or the Youka extension while you have an internet connection.
  2. Sign in and open Library once. This prepares the offline page for the current version of Youka.
  3. Choose how videos are stored:
    • Select Make Library Available Offline to download all eligible exports now.
    • Turn on Automatic Offline Saving to save new eligible exports in the future.
    • Leave automatic saving off to choose Make available offline for individual videos.
  4. Wait until each video says Available offline before disconnecting.
Youka remembers the last authenticated local profile, but it does not store your Clerk sign-in token in the offline library. Sign in again when you reconnect if your online session has expired.

Choose where new exports are stored

Select Save new Karaokes to on the Library page to choose a Youka folder. New local exports are stored by Project and Export ID inside that folder. Existing exports are not moved. By default, managed files and the local db.json index are stored under Videos/Youka. The index makes Library loading fast; each Export also has its own manifest so Youka can rebuild the index without scanning video metadata. Use Add existing Youka folder if you previously selected another drive or folder. Youka indexes only valid managed Export folders and does not import unrelated videos.

Play while offline

Open Library from Youka Desktop or the Youka extension. Items marked Available offline use the local video automatically. The same player, queue, and playback controls are used online and offline. Keep Youka Desktop or the Youka extension open. If an action cannot reach it, check that the app is running and try again.

Make an offline Export available online

For a local-only Export, select Make available online. Youka resumes completed upload parts after an interruption and creates one online Library video without charging export credits. The original cloud Project must still exist. If it was deleted, the local karaoke remains playable and Youka explains why it cannot be uploaded.

Delete an offline copy

Youka never removes offline files automatically and does not offer batch deletion. To remove one copy, open that Library item’s menu, select Delete offline copy, and confirm the exact Export. This permanently removes only that Export from the selected device. An online copy remains available unless you delete it separately. Interrupted downloads and renders are preserved. You can retry them, open their folder, or explicitly delete that one incomplete Export.
