When to edit lyrics
Common reasons to edit lyrics include:- Fixing transcription errors or mis-heard words
- Correcting spelling or punctuation
- Removing unwanted text (e.g., ad-libs or background chatter)
- Adding words that were missed during transcription
- Adjusting capitalization or stylistic choices
Opening the lyrics editor
The easiest way to edit lyrics is inside the Manual Sync tool:
Changes save automatically as you work.
Word-by-word editing
Change a word
- Click the word block in the timeline to select it.
- The word’s text appears in the edit field above the timeline.
- Type the corrected text.
- Press Enter or click away to apply the change.
Delete a word
- Select the word by clicking it.
- Press Delete or Backspace.
Add a word
- Click the position in the timeline where the new word should appear.
- Click Add Word.
- Type the word text.
- Drag the block’s edges to set its start and end time.
Line editing
Add a line break
- Select the word where you want the new line to begin.
- Click Split Line or press Enter.
Remove a line break
- Select the first word of the line you want to merge upward.
- Click Merge Line.
Replacing all lyrics
If the auto-transcription is significantly wrong, you can replace the entire lyrics set:- Open the Studio header menu.
- Select Edit Project.
- Paste or type new lyrics into the lyrics field.
- Save. Youka re-syncs the new lyrics to the audio.
Tips for editing
- Make small, focused changes rather than rewriting many lines at once.
- Use the waveform in Manual Sync to help place new words at the right time.
- Preview the section after editing to confirm it looks correct.
- Keep a copy of the original lyrics if you plan to make large changes.
