The Youka Extension is a small app that runs on your computer and connects to online.youka.io in your browser. Once connected, it unlocks three features that are not available in the browser alone.

What the extension unlocks

Create from video URLs

Paste a link to a video instead of uploading a file. The extension downloads and processes it for you.

Search lyrics automatically

A Search button appears in the lyrics area. Click it to find and import lyrics from the internet based on your song title.

Free local exports

Render videos on your computer instead of the cloud — no credits required, ever.

Unlimited exports

Because local exports run on your machine, there is no limit to how many you can do.

Install the extension

Download the installer

Visit the extension download page and click the download button for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).

Run the installer

Open the downloaded file and follow the setup instructions. The process takes under a minute.

Check the system tray

After installation, the extension starts automatically and appears as a small icon in your system tray (Windows/Linux) or menu bar (macOS).

Connect to your browser

Open Youka Online

Go to online.youka.io in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox.

Confirm the connection

Look for the Connected indicator in the top-right corner of the page. When you see it, the extension is active and all features are unlocked.

Create karaoke from a video URL

Once the extension is installed and connected:

Click Create Karaoke

From the Youka Online home page, click Create Karaoke.

Select the From URL tab

Switch to the From URL tab in the creation dialog.

Paste the video URL

Paste a link to the video you want to use. Make sure the video is publicly available.

Click Download

Click Download. The extension fetches the video and extracts the audio automatically.

Continue with lyrics

Add or search for lyrics and finish creating your karaoke as normal.

Search lyrics automatically

When the extension is connected, a Search button appears in the lyrics input area.
  1. Enter your song title in the project.
  2. Click Search in the lyrics area.
  3. The extension searches the internet for matching lyrics.
  4. If lyrics are found, they are imported into the text field automatically.
  5. Review and edit as needed before proceeding.

Privacy

The Youka Extension:
  • Runs entirely on your computer
  • Only communicates with Youka Online while you are actively using the web app
  • Does not collect or transmit personal data
  • Keeps all downloaded videos and exports on your machine

Troubleshooting

  1. Check your system tray or menu bar to confirm the extension is running.
  2. Restart the extension app.
  3. Refresh the Youka Online page in your browser.
  4. Confirm you are using Chrome, Edge, or Firefox.
  1. Confirm the URL is a valid, publicly accessible video link.
  2. Check that the video is not private or age-restricted.
  3. Try a different video to rule out a connection issue.
  4. Update the extension to the latest version (see below).
The extension checks for updates automatically when it starts. To update manually:
  1. Download the latest installer from the extension download page.
  2. Run the installer — it updates your existing installation in place.
  3. Restart the extension.
