Transparent background export removes the background from your karaoke video, leaving only the lyrics and effects. You can then layer this file over any video or image in a video editing application.

What you get

When you enable transparent background export, Youka generates a ProRes 4444 (.mov) file. This format preserves a full alpha channel so your editing software can correctly render the transparent areas. Use transparent exports to overlay your karaoke lyrics on:
  • Music videos or concert footage
  • Nature scenes or animations
  • Custom backgrounds you’ve designed
  • Any video clip of your choice
Standard video players will show transparent areas as black or white. This is expected. The transparency works correctly once you layer the file inside a video editor.

Enable transparent background

1

Open your project in Studio

Open the project you want to export.
2

Open the Export dialog

Click Export in the top-right corner of the Studio.
3

Turn on Transparent Background

Toggle Transparent Background to the ON position.
4

Export your video

Click Export Video. Youka generates a .mov file in ProRes 4444 format with a full alpha channel.

Use in your video editor

Place your karaoke .mov file on a track above your background video or image. Your editing software reads the alpha channel and shows the background through the transparent areas. Any editor that supports ProRes 4444 with alpha works — including DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, HitFilm, Vegas Pro, and Kdenlive.
ProRes 4444 files are large by design — they preserve full quality for editing. Once you finish compositing, export your final video to H.264 or similar to reduce file size for sharing.

Cloud vs. local export

Transparent background export is available with both cloud and local export options.
Export runs on Youka’s servers. Uses a small number of credits. No additional software required.
