When you provide the lyrics yourself, Youka uses them as a precise reference for synchronization. The AI matches each word in your text to the exact moment it’s sung, producing tighter timing than transcription alone.

Two ways to add lyrics

Provide lyrics manually (this page) — paste or type the lyrics text before creating the karaoke. AI transcription — let Youka detect the lyrics from the audio automatically. Use this when you don’t have the lyrics. See AI Transcription.

When to provide lyrics manually

Use this option when:
  • You have the song’s lyrics available
  • You want the most accurate word-level timing
  • The vocals are complex, heavily layered, or in a less common language
  • You’re working with a song that has unusual pronunciations or stylized spelling

How to paste your lyrics

1

Open the Create Karaoke page

Click Create Karaoke from the Youka home page, then upload your file or paste a URL.
2

Select I have lyrics

In the lyrics section, choose I have lyrics. A text area will appear.
3

Paste or type the lyrics

Paste the lyrics into the text area. You can also:
  • Click Paste to insert text from your clipboard
  • Click Search (available when the Youka Extension is connected) to automatically find lyrics based on the song title
4

Check the formatting

Review the lyrics and make sure they follow these guidelines:
  • Each sung line is on its own line
  • Section headers like [Chorus] or [Verse 1] are removed, unless you want them displayed on screen
  • Background vocals in parentheses are included if you want them shown
  • Spelling is accurate — the AI syncs exactly what you provide
Example:
I've been waiting for a day like this
Come around, come around, come around
Would you take my hand?

Select the lyrics language

Choose the language your lyrics are written in. This helps the AI understand pronunciation patterns, handle special characters correctly, and improve sync accuracy. Youka supports 50+ languages including English, Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and more.

Click Create Karaoke

Click Create Karaoke. The AI will analyze the audio and match every word in your lyrics to the music. This typically takes 1–2 minutes.

Tips for accurate sync

  • Accurate spelling matters. The AI aligns what you type — typos cause misalignment.
  • Match the sung text, not the printed text. If the recording omits a word or adds an ad-lib, adjust the lyrics to reflect what’s actually sung.
  • Remove non-sung text. Strip out headers, annotations, and anything that doesn’t appear as sung words in the audio.
If the sync is slightly off in places after creation, use the Manual Sync tool in Studio to adjust individual word and line timings without re-creating the project.
