# Chord Layout

> Play any song with synced chords above the lyrics, with notation, transpose, and capo controls

The Chord Layout displays synced chords above the lyrics while the song plays — so you can learn any song's harmony in real time.

## What You Can Do

With the Chord Layout, you can:

* Generate synced chords from your song
* View chords in **Inline** or **Grid** mode
* Switch notation style (Pop, Jazz, Nashville, Maj/Min)
* Adjust **Transpose** and **Capo** for easier practice

## Open Chord Layout

1. Open your project in the Studio
2. Click the **Layout** panel
3. Set **Layout Type** to **Chords**

## Generate Chords

1. Click **Generate Chords**
2. Wait for processing to finish
3. Confirm the detected song key shown in the panel

Generation time depends on song length and queue load.

## Configure Chord Display

After generation, tune the view for your practice style.

### Display Mode

* **Inline** — Chords appear above lyrics timing
* **Grid** — Chords appear in a dedicated grid for easier scanning

### Notation

Choose the chord naming style you prefer:

* Pop (Complex / Simple / Basic)
* Jazz (Complex / Simple / Basic)
* Nashville (Complex / Simple / Basic)
* Maj/Min

### Transpose and Capo

* **Transpose** shifts chord shapes up or down semitones
* **Capo** applies capo position for guitar-oriented practice

Use both controls to find the easiest playable version of a song.

## Suggested Practice Routine

1. Run through the full song once to identify hard sections
2. Repeat only those sections with slower playback
3. Try 2-3 transpose values and pick your best key
4. Rehearse from start to finish without stopping

This keeps sessions focused and fun while improving retention.

## Tips

* Start with a simpler notation variant if chords feel too dense
* Use Grid mode for harmonic analysis and chart-style practice
* Use Inline mode when you want chord + lyric phrasing together
* Revisit generated chords after changing arrangement settings
