# Create karaoke from a URL

> Start a Youka Desktop project from a supported public video URL

Youka Desktop can create a karaoke project from a supported public video URL without the separate Youka Extension.

<Warning>
  Use only source videos, music, and lyrics that you own or have permission to process. A public URL does not grant reuse rights.
</Warning>

## Before you start

* Connect your computer to the internet.
* Sign in to Youka Desktop.
* Copy the supported public video URL you want to use.
* Check the creation-credit estimate shown before starting.

Creating from a URL downloads the source on your computer, but AI creation, lyric processing, and project editing remain online workflows.

## Create the project

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Create">
    In Youka Desktop, choose **Create Karaoke**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose From URL">
    Select **From URL**, then paste the supported public video URL.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose lyrics and processing">
    Add or search for lyrics, then review the selected AI options and credit estimate.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create and review">
    Start creation. When processing finishes, review the lyrics, timing, and styling in Studio.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## If a URL cannot be imported

Confirm that the URL is public, supported, and playable in your region. Some sites, private videos, age restrictions, sign-in requirements, or provider changes can block an otherwise valid link.

You can also download or obtain an authorized source file yourself and use the standard file-upload workflow.
