# Create Karaoke from a File

> Turn any local audio or video file into a karaoke track

Use any audio or video file on your computer as the source for a new karaoke project.

## What you'll achieve

A new project built from a local file, with the instrumental separated and lyrics synced.

## Steps to create karaoke from a file

  <Step title="Open Create New">
    In Youka, click **Create New**, then **Create Karaoke from File**.

  <Step title="Pick the file">
    Choose an audio file (MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG) or a video file (MP4, MKV,
    WebM, AVI, MOV).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name the song">
    Youka fills in the title from the filename. Edit it if you want a cleaner
    display name.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add lyrics (optional)">
    Paste the song's lyrics if you have them, or leave the field blank to let
    Youka transcribe them from the audio automatically.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create">Click **Create Karaoke** to start processing.</Step>

Processing usually takes 2–5 minutes depending on song length. Watch progress in the **Jobs** tab.

## Supported formats

## Tips for best results

* High-quality source files give cleaner vocal separation
* Providing accurate lyrics produces better sync than transcription alone
* Use the preview to check timing before exporting
