# Add a Background Box to Subtitles

> Make subtitles easier to read on busy backgrounds

A background box sits behind the lyrics so they stay legible even on bright or busy video backgrounds.

## Steps to add a background box

    Open the karaoke project you want to edit.

    Go to **Style > Subtitle Settings**.

    Turn on the **Background Box** toggle.

    Adjust color, opacity, and padding to match your project.

## Box settings

* **Color** — the fill color of the box (default black)
* **Opacity** — transparency from 0% (invisible) to 100% (solid)
* **Padding** — space between the text and the box edge

## Tips for readability

* 60–80% opacity gives a modern, semi-transparent look
* 8–12px of padding gives the text breathing room
* Match the box color to your video's color palette for a cohesive feel
